Serums are like magical elixirs that can help you be the best versions of yourself this festive season. So, we bring you the ultimate guide to help you through the which and when’s of serums.

What are serums and how are they different from creams?

Serums are made up of smaller molecules that penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver high concentration of powerful ingredients directly into it. They are perfect for targeting specific skin concerns like acne, wrinkles etc.

The biggest difference between a serum and a cream is in their formulation. Serums do not contain moisturizing ingredients and are fluid based with high concentration of active ingredients. They immediately absorb into the skin and elevate its special functioning while boosting the effect of face creams.

Serum to use according to skin types.

1) For dull and aging skin.

Serum to use: Vitamin C

Why: Vitamin C boosts collagen production which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. It enhances skin elasticity and tightness. It protects the skin from UV damage and boosts cell turnover. Vitamin C also helps to fade hyperpigmentation, reduces redness and dark circles which makes the skin even-toned and radiant!

How To use:

☑️ Can be used twice.
☑️ Apply it on freshly cleaned face after toning and before moisturizing.
☑️ Preferably use it in the morning but remember to apply at least 30 mins before heading out as it works best when absorbed in the skin.

    Don’t mix with:

Tea tree controls excess sebum production and purifies the skin. Salicylic acid and calamine are known to exfoliate the skin and support skin renewal process.

      How To use:

☑️ Can be used twice daily.
☑️ Apply it on freshly cleaned face after toning and before moisturizing.
☑️ Take a tiny amount of the serum and dot it on the acne-prone areas. Gently press it on the area and dab lightly so that it gets soaked in the skin. Repeat for every acne or scar. Do not apply on the full face.

Serum to use: Hyaluronic Acid and Caffeine serums

Why: Serums formulated with Hyaluronic Acid are a wonder to dry skin as it pulls water from the air and sucks it into the face which helps to keep the skin moist throughout the day. It helps to boost collagen structure and skin’s renewal process. Caffeine reduces puffiness and dark circles while hydrating and moisturizing the skin and gives it a boost of freshness.

          How To use:

☑️ Hyaluronic acid can be used twice; Caffeine should be mostly used during the day.
☑️ Apply it on freshly cleaned face after toning and before moisturizing.
☑️ Take a tiny amount of the serum and apply it evenly on the face and neck using upward motions for a minute so that the serum gets absorbed into the skin nicely.

Vitamins B3 and E prevent moisture loss, help enhance collagen structure and complexion. Oils help to protect the skin from damage and aloe vera hydrates the skin. Hazelnut helps clarify tannin and redness. These serums help to attain younger-looking and luminous skin.
